1/23 GE Healthcare to Buy API Healthcare in Hartford

GE Healthcare, which has major business units in southeast Wisconsin, added to its area portfolio Tuesday by announcing it has agreed to buy API Healthcare, a health care work force management software and analytics solutions provider based in Hartford. API Healthcare will expand GE Healthcare’s hospital operations management portfolio which GE said gives hospitals real-time access to operational data.GE officials said in a prepared statement that with this acquisition, GE Healthcare will be able to address a significant portion of hospital operations costs – assets, patients and labor – with a mix of software, real-time data, powerful analytics and professional services.” GE also said API Healthcare’s solutions – staffing and scheduling, patient classification, human resources, talent management, payroll, time and attendance, business analytics, and staffing agency offerings – are used by more than 1,600 hospitals and staffing agencies in the United States. GE said it anticipates closing the deal in the first quarter of 2014. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
