1/24 First Traffic Fatality for 2014 Recorded

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department is reporting today the County’s first traffic fatality for 2014. According to the press release, On Thursday afternoon at approximately 3:44 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two vehicle crash on County Highway A east of Cty Hihway  M in the Town of Farmington. Deputies and personnel from the Newburg, West Bend and Fillmore Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene. The first Deputy  arriving at the scene located the vehicles and found one of the drivers pinned between a truck and a trailer attached to the truck. The pinned person was found to be deceased. The driver of a car was also located in their car. The driver of the car was extricated by Fire Department personnel and transported to the hospital via Flight for Life. The preliminary investigation into the cause of the crash suggests the truck was stopped on Highway A, and the driver was out of the truck when the car crashed into the rear of the trailer.  The names of the victims are not being released just the following descriptions. The deceased person is a 55 year old man from Sheboygan County. The Driver of the car is a 28 year old West Bend woman.  Highway A was closed between Cty Highway M and River View Rd for over five hours. The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction Unit, and Commercial Vehicle Inspectors.
