1/3 New Year's Day Fire Causes $35,000 in Damages to Home

The year 2014 got off to a tragic start for a West Bend family as a house fire caused major damages to the two story home. According to West Bend Fire Department Battalion Chief Chuck Beistle, a family of three was in the basement watching television and went upstairs. They started to hear popping sounds and saw a fire. They immediately called the Fire Department at about 5:30 p.m. The fire caused moderate fire damage and a lot smoke damage. There were no injuries, but Beistle said the family can’t stay in the home. The American Red Cross is taking care of the family. Damage is estimated at $35,000. The exact cause of the fire is undetermined.
