10/18 Kerry Corp Selects Jackson Plant for Expansion Project

For the past few weeks we have reported to you on a possible expansion project in the Village of Jackson at the Kerry Ingredients and Flavors plant. As a review, On September 26th, the Jackson planning commission made a recommendation to approve the expansion project proposal. In a closed door meeting October second the Washington County Board of Supervisors agreed to provide sizable loan package worth as much as $500,000 to the company as an enticement to expand in Jackson. A public hearing was then held at the monthly board meeting for the Village of Jackson on October eighth regarding the proposed expansion project for Kerry Ingredients and Flavors plant. Given the fact that nobody from the community spoke out against the project at the meeting a motion was made and passed to approve the expansion project proposal. The parent corporation, Kerry Group headquartered in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland has decided that among its 45 facilities across the United States, Jackson is the choice for the company expansion.  WBKV News attempted to reach Josh Wagner, the plant Manager in Jackson for some comments, but he did not return any of our calls. The expansion has a potential to boost employment by 60 workers and add 119,000 square feet for production and warehousing. The Kerry Group produces ingredients and flavorings for the worldwide food and beverage industries. The Jackson plant, located on Main Street produces dairy and culinary products and currently employs 140 people.
