Bob Gannon today announced his candidacy for the open State Assembly’s 58th District seat. This seat has been held for the past 12 years Pat Strachota. As a local business owner, in the position of Managing Partner of Richards Insurance of West Bend, and as a co-owner with his wife, Kris, of the AmericInn Hotel in West Bend, Gannon has gained private sector business acumen. Additionally, Gannon has shown his commitment to the community by serving in leadership positions in the West Bend area, currently serving as President Elect of the West Bend Economic Development Corporation, and as the Past President and Board Officer of the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce, West Bend Sunrise Rotary, West Bend Jaycees, and the West Bend Youth Hockey Association. Gannon states that using “common sense conservative” economic principals has allowed his business to grow and add more local jobs, and that those lessons learned in business can be used to make Madison run more efficiently.
Gannon also takes a conservative platform on social issues as well. Gannon said, “I believe that our system of entitlements are rife with fraud and abuse, and at times our safety net structure for those most at risk are designed more for the benefit of the provider, than for the people most in need”. Gannon says that he has contacted numerous local business and community officials about his run for office, and is thrilled with the level of support and encouragement for his run. Gannon has made it clear that his goal is to be the true “citizen legislator”, and he will continue to serve his clients at Richards Insurance, while delegating some management duties to other agency team members, as he represents the 58th District on our behalf.
