West Bend Police had little rest on Sunday as they were called into action on two separate criminal cases. Lieutenant Michael Hartwell tells WBKV News that Sunday afternoon at two twenty, police responded to a call for a gas theft at the Shell West on West Washington Street. A 43 year old female from Colfax, pumped fifty four dollars worth of gas and left without making any attempt to pay for the gas. A description of her vehicle was given to officers. She was eventually located, and upon questioning, denied not paying for the gas. She was cited for theft. Police found themselves dealing with a bit more serious issue Sunday night. According to Lieutenant Hartwell, officers responded to a home on the north east side at around ten fifteen. A 40 year old man from Woodridge, Illinois, became involved in an altercation that turned physical when he carried his girlfriend across the room by her neck and slammed her into a wall. When police arrived, they immediately located him and took him into custody on charges of Disorderly Conduct, Battery and Strangulation.
