5/5 Planning Underway for 2014 Memorial Day Parade & Program

The West Bend Memorial Day observance will be held just three weeks from today on Monday May 26th.  The parade will step off at nine thirty followed by the annual recognition program at eleven. Invitations have been sent to those groups who have participated in previous parades according to planning committee chairperson Steve Rohde. The recognition ceremony will be held at the memorial Plaza, near the old Washington County Courthouse. Seating will be limited and people attending are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. The program this year will honor veterans of numerous wars including the Civil; Spanish American, World Wars 1 and 2; Korean; Vietnam, along with Desert Storm and present day Iraq and Afghanistan. Boy Scout Troop 780 will be selling brats, hot dogs and soda at the plaza. For more information on the parade or the program, contact Steve Rhode at 414-581-4381.
