7 / 15 Monday a Bust Day for Political Candidates

Monday was a busy day for political announcements from several candidates running for both the sixth congressional seat and for the 58th and 59th state Assembly seats. State Representative Duey Stroebel, small businessman and candidate for Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District, issued the following statement on eliminating the Department of Education:"The federal government has no place meddling with education. We should eliminate the Department of Education and return all educational decisions to the state, local, and family levels in accordance with the tenth Amendment to the Constitution. The people of Wisconsin managed to successfully educate children for over 130 years prior to the founding of the Department of Education. We’ll be able to do it again without them. State Senator Glen Grothman, also a congressional candidate issued a statement lashing out against at Joe Liebham.  Grothman said Joe Leibham’s record on Common Core and protecting student privacy is abysmal. In the legislature, Joe Leibham voted to spend millions of dollars implementing controversial student databases linked to Common Core and to allow the databases to be shared among a variety of government agencies.“When it comes to opposing Common Core and all of its components, Joe Leibham is on the wrong side,” “Conservatives should be appalled that my opponent was the deciding vote to spend over seven million dollars and hire new state employees to implement these invasive databases.”  Meanwhile, two state Assembly candidates announced endorsements they received. After conducting interviews with all 59th State Assembly candidates at the Campbellsport Library this past week, Jesse Kremer from Kewaskum came away with the only endorsement by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation. In the 58th Assembly District, Tiffany Koehler is the only candidate to have earned the endorsement of Pro-Life Wisconsin for their chosen candidate.
