9/20 Name of 50 Year Old Woman Killed in Monday Crash Released

The name of the female victim that died Monday morning in Washington County’s fifth traffic fatality of 2013 has now been released. She was fifty year old Linda Young from West Bend. According to the sheriff’s report, four westbound vehicles were stopped at a traffic control point along Highway 33 in a construction zone as a worker held a portable stop sign. The last stopped vehicle was a sedan driven by a 33-yearold West Bend woman with Young in the passenger seat. A westbound SUV operated by a 22-year-old West Bend woman failed to observe the stop signal and rear-ended the sedan, causing a chain reaction among all the cars. Young was pronounced dead at the scene. Lieutenant Martin Schulteiss from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department reports that the preliminary investigation into Monday morning’s fatal crash suggests the 22 year old driver of   the SUV who caused the accident spilled a nonalcoholic beverage and became distracted before the impact. Lieutenant Schulteis also said Highway 33 is one of the most heavily traveled state roads in the county and is undergoing improvements to enhance safety. He said it isn’t any more dangerous than other state highways in the county based on the volume of traffic.
