The University of Wisconsin-Washington County will present over $67,000 in scholarships at the fall Honors Convocation ceremony tonight.. The ceremony begins at 7:00pm in the theatre. Twenty-three new freshman and 23 returning UW-WC students will receive scholarships for the 2013-14 school year. An additional $72,000 in scholarships was awarded at the Commencement ceremony in May to sophomore students who were transferring to four-year campuses to complete their bachelor degrees. UW-WC Dean, Dr. Paul Price will welcome scholarship presenters, civic groups, foundations and memorial bequeaths, plus scholarship recipients as well as the faculty, families and friends in attendance. UW-WC Anthropology Professor, Chris Hays, winner of the 2013 Rolfs Teaching award will present the keynote address. Some of scholarships winners include Beatrice Gerfin, Hartford and Cody Kluge also from Hartford, $500 each for New Freshman. Patrick McDonough of Port Washington will receive a Returning Student $600 scholarship. Two students will receive the Rolfs Educational Foundation Returning Student awards of $2,000 each and they are Jade Bollig from West Bend and Thomas Klein, of Slinger. In addition to strong local scholarship support, the campus also offers internship programs within the community, allowing students to earn valuable work experience while completing their studies.
