9/3 Pedestrian vs. Train Fatality

A 61 year old woman along with her two dogs were killed on Saturday monring when they were struck by a passing train. According to Lieutenant James Ketchem of the Dodge County Sheriff's Department ,  at approximately 10:30am, Juanita Payton from Lowell was walking with her 2 dogs on the railroad tracks of the Union Pacific Railroad near the intersection of Blackbird Road and Chapel Road when she was struck by a train that was traveling southbound on the tracks.  Mrs Payton was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiners Office.  The 2 canines were also killed in the accident.  Assisting the Dodge County Sheriff's Department at the scene were the Town of Beaver Dam Police Department, Beaver Dam Fire Department and EMS, Lowell Fire Department and First Responder Unit, Union Pacific Railroad Police and the Dodge County Medical Examiners Office.The case remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff's Department
