A Tornado Hit Tupelo, Mississippi, and a News Crew Had to Evacuate the Studio on

by Bob posted Apr 29 2014 4:23AM

A large tornado hit Tupelo, Mississippi yesterday afternoon.  And a weatherman named Matt Laubhan was live on the air for an NBC affiliate when his studio had to be evacuated.

He stayed on the air until the last possible second, and then everyone ran to the basement.  The tornado ended up knocking them off the air for a while.  But luckily, all of the employees are apparently okay.  And no one in Tupelo was killed.

(Search for "The Moment a Mississippi TV Station Evacuated for a Tornado."  The feed cuts out for a few seconds at :43, and then he tells everyone to evacuate.  There are some photos of damage in Tupelo here.)

(You might remember Matt from a few years ago when he surprised his news anchor girlfriend by proposing on live TV.)
