8/30 Fraudulent Representation of We Energies Employee

The West Bend Police Department is releasing information today from a complaint they received on Monday.  According to Lieutenant Michael Hartwell, West Bend Police Department received a complaint at nine am Monday morning of a male being described to be in his mide thirties  who was posing as a We Energies employee and attempting to collect a utility payment by credit card at the We Energies customer’s residence. This man was not a We-Energies employee.  According to the press release similar fraudulent representations or scams have occurred in other jurisdictions in southeastern Wisconsin. In each instance the fake employee attempted to obtain credit card numbers from customers.  We-Energies have advised the police that they never collect payment from customers at a residence or in the field. The West Bend Police Department and We-Energies encourages anyone who encounters this type of activity to contact their local law enforcement agency and do not provide any credit card information.
