9/10 Sheriff's Department Investigates Weekend Accidents

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a pair of separate accidents that occurred this past week. The first accident was reported Thursday night at approximately 850pm. Involving a motorcycle and bicycle. The accident happened on Slinger Road and highway 60 near the rail road tracks. According to the report,  a northbound motorcycle struck a southbound bicycle, ejecting the rider off the bicycle. The cycle operator stopped and assisted the bicyclist. His Injuries were minor. The motorcycle operator also picked up a piece of the cycle, assisted in fixing the bicycle and then fled the scene. The Identity of the cycle operator is not known.  He is described as being a young male, in his 20’s. Clean shaven with short brown hair. He was wearing a black leather jacket.. The bicycle operator is a 17 year old man from the town of Polk. There were not any lights on the bicycle. The case remains under investigation. Sheriff Deputies are also reporting another traffic accident that took place on Sunday morning at about three forty five am that is believed to be an OWI. According to the accident report, a forty year old Appleton man was injured when his southbound vehicle went into the median on highway 41 south of Mohawk Road. He was not wearing a seat belt and he was initially trapped in the car after being thrown into the back seat. The crash was witnessed by a northbound semi truck that stopped and called it in.  The Driver said he was talking on his telephone at the time the crash happened. An odor of liquor was detected. The man was transported to an area hospital for minor treatments. . An investigation into the possible OWI is continuing
