The debate over what date to hold Trick or Treat hours in Kewaskum was addressed again last night at the village Board meeting. The decision to have trick-or-treating on Halloween night Wednesday October 31st was made at the last Village Board meeting held on September ninth. A concerned village resident and parent brought a petition to the Village Board meeting on Monday night asking to change trick-or-treat to the Saturday before Halloween and voiced her concerns about trick-or-treating on a school night because Halloween falls on a Thursday. Village Administrative Matt Heiser presented some alternatives to the Village Board. He said some concerns about holding trick-or-treat on Halloween night this year because it’s a school night are valid because kids won’t get home until 4 p.m. and they have to go to school the next day. He said the village has held trick-or-treating on a Sunday before Halloween, but he said that’s a school night too. Recently, the village has held trick-or-treating on the Saturday before Halloween, but he said he received negative comments because it conflicted with Kewaskum High School football playoff games. Village board trustee eventually ended the discussion when he made a motion to set trick-or-treat hours for the Saturday before Halloween.” The Village Board unanimously passed the motion and trick-or-treats in Kewaskum this year will be held Saturday October 26th from five until seven pm.
