A jury found Bruce Kuechler guilty of ninth offense operating while intoxicated operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration Tuesday, in Washington County court. According to the criminal complaint, at 11:16 p.m. Dec. 23, 2011, Washington County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to Highway D and Kettle View Drive in the town of Barton for a crash with injuries. A Sheriff’s deputy said he saw a pickup truck registered to Kuechler facing eastbound in the westbound lane with damage consistent to a rollover. The deputy also saw an unconscious man, later identified as Kuechler, 30 feet away. Kuechler appeared before Washington County Judge Andrew Gonring with his attorney John Best for the second day of a jury trial. Because nobody actually witnessed the crash, county accident reconstruction experts observed tire marks in the roadway and believe Kuechler drifted over the center line, over corrected, continued in the ditch and overcorrected again, causing the car to spin and eject Kuechler. Deputies at the crash scene reported the scene was littered with debris including glass, wood, and beer cans. Kuechler will be sentenced at 2:30 p.m. December 12.
