A 57 year old Texas grandfather left home with his two grandchildren on Sunday to go to a neighborhood park and the group wound up in Wisconsin on Tuesday. The 57 year old man is William Gomez. The children are 7-year-old Marcus and 8-year-old Dominique. Yesterday, they were reunited with Jose Gomez the father of the two children and son of William. Police in Carrollton, Texas put out an APB along with a photo of the children's grandfather and his Jeep. The 57-year-old grandfather underwent brain surgery a decade ago, and this appears to be an episode of memory loss and confusion. Authorities were able to track food and gas purchases in six states including his last in Illinois. Gomez eventually approached a deputy from the Washington County Sheriff on Highway 33 in the Town of Addison asking for directions to Dallas, Texas. The deputy ran his Texas license plate through the Department’s Dispatch Center which quickly advised the deputy of the man’s missing endangered status. The man and his grandchildren were taken into protective custody and were all reunited Wednesday afternoon when Jose arrived.
