10/10 Jackson Village Board Approves Kerry Plant Expansion

A public hearing was held at Tuesday night’s monthly board meeting for the Village of Jackson regarding the proposed expansion project for Kerry Ingredients and Flavors plant. On September 26th, the Jackson planning commission made a recommendation to approve the expansion project proposal. Given the fact that nobody from the community spoke out against the project at Tuesday’s meeting a motion was made and passed to approve the expansion project proposal. The parent corporation, Kerry Group is headquartered
in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland and will decide later this month where among its 45 facilities across the United States to place the project. If Jackson is chosen as the site, the expansion could boost employment by 60 workers and add 119,000 square feet for production and warehousing. The Kerry Group produces ingredients and flavorings
for the worldwide food and beverage industries. The Jackson plant, located on Main Street produces dairy and culinary products and currently employs 140 people. If the Kerry Group authorizes the expansion of their Jackson plant construction would begin this year and could be completed in August of 2104.
