History was made on Saturday in Madison at the WIAA Girls state Tennis tournament. Lexi Keberle a freshman from West Bend East capped an undefeated season by winning the Division 1 girls tennis state championship. By accomplishing this great athletic plateau ,she has become the first girl from West Bend East to win a state tennis title. The second-seeded Keberle finished with a 30-0 record after beating two-time reigning state champion and top-seeded senior Elizabeth Konon of Homestead, 6-4, 0-6, 6-3, in the final. The only other loss Konon suffered was in the state semifinals as a freshman. But on Saturday she fell short in her bid to become just the fifth girl to win three state singles championships in a row. Now that quest could be accomplished by Lexi Keberle from West Bend East.
