Washington County suffered its sixth traffic fatality of 2013 on Tuesday morning following a two vehicle head on collision on Highway 33 east of County Trunk M along Decorah Road in the Town of Trenton. The accident occurred at 5:08 a.m. According to the report issued by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle operated by a 41 year old Milwaukee woman was eastbound on Highway 33 when her vehicle entered a curve and crossed left of the center line into the westbound lane. Her vehicle collided head on with a vehicle traveling west on 33 that was being driven by a 42 year old woman from the Village of Newburg. The Newburg woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington County Medical Examiner. The Milwaukee woman was transported to Froedtert Hospital by Flight for Life with serious injuries. Her condition is not known. The reason for the eastbound vehicle driven by the woman from Milwaukee operating left of the center line is undetermined at this time. Newburg Fire Department and Rescue responded to the scene. Both East and West bound lanes of Highway 33 was closed to traffic and re-routed for approximately 4.5 hours as a result of the accident. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team are conducting an investigation into the accident.
