The Kewaskum School Board had a very lengthy four hour meeting Monday night that contained 18 agenda items. One of the main items was the approval of the 2013-14 budget and tax levy. School Board President Tim Ramthum commended the board and the administration form their frugal responsibilities on this matter despite the decrease in subsidies, and he admired them for putting together a solid process for reducing expenses alongside the subsidizing decreases, and still being able to retain a high quality of education. Ramthum mentions the fact that with those numbers being accepted, the tax rate for the Kewaskum school district will see a minor increase. Ramthum also noted that a great effort was put into this budget decision by some hard working people who are working with a smart and critical thinking process to get an ending product that doesn’t have any excessive expenditures that would force a bigger raise in taxes.
