11/4 Fire Destroys Barn in Germantown

A fire Friday afternoon destroyed a storage barn used for storage located on Cedar Lane in Germantown. According to a press release from the Germantown Police Department, a 9-1-1 call was initially received at 1154am, when the Germantown Fire Department arrived on the scene, they found the building complexly engulfed in flames. A mutual aid assistance call was requested and agencies from Jackson, Richfield, Slinger, Hartford, Kewaskum, West Bend, St. Lawrence, Lisbon, Cedarburg, Lannon, Grafton, Thiensville and Menomonee Falls assisted the Germantown Fire Department. The building was totally destroyed and estimated dollars damages are in excess of $250,000. There were no injuries at the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it appears a probable cause of the fire is a defective wood burning stove.
