On Saturday night at 6:43 p.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two vehicle crash, with injuries, at the intersection of USH 45 and CTH H(east) in the Town of Kewaskum. Sheriff’s Deputies, and personnel from the Kewaskum Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene. Shortly after their arrival, West Bend Rescue was also requested to assist at the scene. The investigation revealed that a car, operated by a 20 year old Sheboygan County man, was southbound on USH 45 attempting to turn eastbound on CTH H. In the process of turning, the automobile failed to yield the right of way to a northbound pickup truck, operated by a 60 year old City of West Bend man, and was struck. Each vehicle was also occupied by a front seat passenger. Both drivers and the passenger of the automobile were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in the Town of Polk. Their injuries appear serious, but are not believed to be life threatening.The northbound lanes of USH 45 and the westbound lane of CTH H were closed in the area of the crash for approximately 65 minutes to facilitate rescue, investigative, and clean-up efforts. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and the accident remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
