11/19 House Fire Causes Over $100,000 in Damages

Monday morning just after eight thirty, Hartford Fire and Rescue along with the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of a house fire in the 2800 block of County Highway P in the Town of Rubicon. According to Hartford Fire Chief Paul Stephens, firefighters had to overcome the strong windy conditions inorder to extinguish the fire and rescue a dog and cat from the fire. The fire was brought under control in about thirty minutes.  The lone female occupant of the home was able to escape prior to firefighter’s arrival. She was taken by Lifestar EMS to the hospital for precautionary measures. The home suffered significant smoke, heat and water damage. Preliminary damage estimate is believed to be around $100, 000. Hartford Fire and Rescue was assisted on the scene by Neosho, Richfield, Slinger, St. Lawerence and Allenton Fire Departments. The Red Cross was notified to help the family. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
