Janet Reichert of West Bend celebrated her 100th birthday on MAY 22 this year. Janet was a teacher for over forty years. For 28 of those years she was an elementary school kindergarten teacher at Barton Elementary. Today the school will be holding a special assembly to honor her. The assembly program will feature Mayor Kraig Sadownikow presenting her a special proclamation. There will also be a slide show highlighting her teaching years in the schools from the fifties thru the seventies. Jeanne Cir-I-Acks the principal at Barton Elementary provides a few more details on the program which will include a choir performing the national anthem and an appearance by several other retired teachers whom worked with Janet Reichert over the years. West Bend School Superintendent Ted Neitzke also said it will be a real honor for the students to have a chance to meet and speak with her given all the aspects of American history she has lived through including several wars, the Water Gate scandal and numerous Presidents.
