The Kohlsville Fire Department was called into action on Saturday morning at about ten thirty for an active fire inside a corn dryer at the Volm Farm located on Sunset Drive just outside the village of Kohlsville. According to Chief Curt Martin of the Kohlsville Fire Department when his department arrived the unit was completely burning, however his department was able to handle the fire without any other department’s assistance. They remained on the scene for approximately three and half hours. The corn dryer was completely destroyed from the fire; damage loss is estimated at $50,000. Chief Martin said approximately 600 acres of corn were not destroyed and will need to be taken to a local agricultural elevator for the drying process.
