35 year old Keith L. Wiedmeyer of West Bend has been sentenced to 28 years in prison followed by 15 years of state supervision for a drunken driving crash last Christmas Eve in Kewaskum that killed Pam Matenaer from West Bend. According to the criminal complaint, Wiedmeyer, was drunk and texting while driving north on U.S. Highway 45 through the Village of Kewaskum on December 24th last year. Witnesses estimated he was driving his car at speeds up to 80 mph when he swerved into the southbound lane to pass other northbound cars. His car then slammed head-on into a southbound car being driven by one of Matenaer son’s. The impact severely injured Pamela Matenaer who was a rear seat passenger. She died shortly after noon on Christmas Day of her injuries. Washington County Circuit Judge Todd Martens sentenced Wiedmeyer to twenty years in prison and ten years of supervision on one count of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Martens also sentenced Wiedmeyer to serve eight years in prison and five years of supervision on one count of 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety. He will serve the prison terms consecutively for a total of 28 years and he will serve the terms of supervision consecutively for a total of 15 years.
