One person was arrested at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon during a breaking and entering at the Fox Lake home of former Dodge County Sheriff Todd Nehls. The deputy who nabbed the suspect is the sheriff’s newly deputized son, Taylor Nehls. Sheriff Pat Ninmann says dispatch received a call around noon from off-duty deputy Taylor Nehls who had stopped by the house for personal items and interrupted the burglary in progress. The suspect reportedly had in his possession a loaded .380 handgun that belonged to Todd Nehls and Taylor Nehls held him at bay until officers arrived on scene. Taylor Nehls just finished his field training two weeks ago and Ninmann commended his actions saying there could have been a deadly ending to today’s incident but Taylor proved himself as a great deputy. Todd Nehls says he is proud of his son and noted that he has great instincts. The former sheriff had an opportunity to ask the suspect a few questions. Todd Nehls says once the suspect realized who’s home he was in, he said he made a big mistake. Nehls says that is putting it mildly.
