Lauren Oliveri has joined the City of West Bend’s Department of Park, Forestry and Recreation as recreation supervisor. Ms. Oliveri brings over 10 years of recreation experience to the position, serving the last 3.5 years as recreation director with the Village of Elm Grove. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in economics from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire. “Lauren’s enthusiasm, work and educational experience are a great asset for the department as the recreation division moves to the new enterprise system on January 1,” Craig Hoeppner, director of West Bend’s Department of Park, Recreation and Forestry, said. As the city faced a budget deficit, the department proposed shifting the recreation division to a self-funding system, which will no longer receive a property tax apportionment in 2014. “While the move to the new system may cause some internal challenges, it will also bring new opportunities and will not affect the high quality recreation programming at affordable prices our citizens have come to expect,” said Hoeppner. Lauren’s first day was Monday, December 16. She stated, “I am excited to start this new adventure and have many new ideas to investigate and implement.
