West Bend School Board Vice President Bart Williams has become the second current board member to announce that he will run for re-election in April. Current West Bend School Board President Rick Parks also recently announced his bid for re-election. Williams wrote in a news release…. “We have accomplished a lot in the last few years, but there is more exciting work to be done to continue making West Bend a destination school district. In his release Williams noted several policies the School Board adopted during his term, including Policy 615, which requires the disclosure of the principal and interest costs of referenda, and Policy 187, which allows district residents to address the School Board for two minutes per person at board meetings. Before moving to West Bend eight years ago, Williams was elected to serve on the New Berlin School Board. There is one other seat that is up for election. The seat formally held by Todd Miller, who earlier this month resigned because he was taking a new job and moving. The School Board will decide in January whether to fill the vacancy for the few months before the election in April. Anyone wishing to seek election to the West Bend School Board must file a Campaign Registration Statement and a Declaration of Candidacy no later than 5 p.m. January seventh at the Education Service Center, 735 South Main Street. The term for the three-year seats expires in April 2017. A description of the school district’s boundaries can be obtained at the Education Service Center. If a primary election is needed, it will be February 18th.
