The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development has released the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ estimates of unemployment and employment statistics for metro areas, major cities and counties in the state of Wisconsin. Preliminary November 2013 unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) decreased or remained the same in four and increased in eight of 12 metro areas, compared to rates in October 2013, and decreased in all 12 metro areas compared to rates in November 2012. In Washington County the numbers increased to five point one percent compared to four point nine percent in October. However, it was below the unemployment rate of five point six percent in November of 2012. Neighboring counties saw similar results. Dodge County was at 6 point 2 percent, up from six-percent even in October but below the 6.8-percent reported in November of last year. Fon Du Lac saw an unemployment rate of five point three percent in November compared to five point two in October, but below the five point seven percent reported in November 2012. Across the state rates either decreased or remained the same in 19 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties from October 2013 to November 2013.
