The first meeting for 2014 of the Kewaskum Village Board is scheduled for tonight at seven pm. At the front end of the meeting agenda three citizens have filed requests to appear before the board and speak on concerned issues. Jacqueline Settingsgaard will be asking to be reimbursed for water damage from the water main break on Meadow Lane; Wayne Sergent will present preliminary plans on an idea to install a handicap accessible pier located by the River Hill Park; finally David Zehern will be requesting a discussion on the topic of conduct, duties and ethics of the Village Board. The various department heads will give updated reports including Fire Chief Mark Groeschel who will seek to ratify the appointment of officers to the Kewaskum Fire Department plus conduct a discussion and its possible action on an Advance Life Support intercept program. Also scheduled for reports are Police Chief Thomas Bishop and DPW Coordinator Chad Cook. He will update the board on his new department’s recent activities. Seven committee chairs will present their reports including Planning commission, Library Board and the Administrative. Items of concern to be addressed in new business include a discussion and possible action on establishing the compensation level for the DPW coordinator along with a possibly heated discussion and action on a resolution opposing a sales tax for a new Milwaukee sports arena. The board meeting will be in the Council Room of the Municipal Building at 204 First Street. It is open to Kewaskum residents.
