1/17 GOP Proposes Erasing Parts of Court Database

If your court case is dismissed, or you won on appeal, don’t you think your records should be expunged? Well Senator Glen Grothman of West Bend, and Representative Mary Czaja of Irma agree with you.
They are circulating a new bill that would restrict public access to the CCAP system. A popular website where you can find information for free on civil and criminal cases filed in Wisconsin circuit courts.
The bill would remove cases from the database when the charges are dismissed, or the person is found not guilty. In addition, if a case is overturned on appeal it would also be removed as well.
Similar proposals have experienced considerable opposition over the years from the active users, including landlords, and media groups. The site currently receives about 3 to 5 million page views each day.
