1/22 West Bend Man Killed at Purdue University

A lone gunman shot and killed a man from West Bend Tuesday inside Purdue University’s electrical engineering building. Purdue Police Chief John Cox identified the victim as Andrew Boldt. The shooter has been identified as 23-year-old Cody Cousins.  Cox says after shooting Boldt; Cousins walked out of the building and surrendered to police.  No word yet on why Boldt was targeted. Boldt graduated from Marquette University High School and set off for Indiana in 2010.  It’s believed that both Boldt and Cousins were teaching assistants in the same department. Father Nathan Reesman of St. Frances Cabrini Parish in West Bend issued the following statement in response to Boldt’s death: “Saint Frances Cabrini Parish community, along with all of West Bend, the community of Marquette High School, and friends of the Boldt family, are deeply saddened by the tragic news of Andrew’s death. The Boldt Family has been in contact with the parish and has asked for their privacy at this time. They are truly grateful for everyone’s prayers and support. In the days ahead, further details will be offered about public opportunities to pray as a faith community and with the Boldt Family. Please continue to offer your prayers for everyone who grieves.”
