1/30 Two Correction Officers Promoted at Sheriff's Department

Sheriff Dale Schmidt is proud to announce two promotions in the Corrections Division of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Sergeant Scott Lehman was promoted to Corrections Lieutenant. The vacancy was created by a retirement.  Lt. Lehman was hired as a Corrections Officer in 2000 and promoted to Sergeant in 2004.  The Corrections Lieutenant is second in command of the County Jail under the direction of the Jail Administrator; Captain Shirley Miller.Also Corrections Officer Amy Schmit was promoted to Corrections Sergeant.  The vacancy was created by a promotion.  Sgt. Schmit was hired in 2004 and will be assigned to second shift, managing day to day Jail operations. Sheriff Schmidt said both of these supervisors were selected from a strong pool of candidates and will serve the Sheriff’s Office and Washington County with professionalism and dignity.  In other news from the Sheriff’s Department, after 37 years of dedicated service to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Lt Dave Weske formally retired on January 13.   Lt Weske has been an advocate for both the Sheriff's office, Jail and the inmate population during his years of service.  Lt. Weske was recently given an award from MPTC for his work with assisting inmate students and encouraging them during tough times. He was instrumental in the success of transporting inmate students to attend career awareness sessions on campus in hopes of them attending classes once they are released.
