The first of three public informational meetings to share potential changes Washington County could consider making to its transit services is tonight from five thirty until seven thirty at Cabela’s in Richfield. A short-range, five year plan for public transit in the County is under consideration. It will include recommendations for transit service and capital improvements for the Washington County Transit System over the study period, 2015 - 2019. The services include the county's Commuter Express bus and Shared-Ride Taxi, as well as Hartford City Taxi and West Bend City Taxi. Commuter bus service alternatives under consideration are eliminating routes with the lowest ridership and adding service to additional destinations, such as Mitchell Airport and Fon Du Lac. A few of the taxi service changes being evaluated include opening a new county taxi depot in Germantown; merging the county shared-ride system with city taxis or with Ozaukee County's taxi service. In addition to tonight’s meeting other meetings will be held tomorrow evening at the West Bend Community Library, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday evening at the Jack Russell Memorial Library, in Hartford from five thirty until seven thirty. Planning commission staff will discuss transit options at 6 p.m. each night.
