It wasn’t a totally incident free St. Patrick’s Day for officers at the West Bend Police Department. Lieutenant Hartwell is reporting two OWI arrests and a gas fill up drive off. The first case took place around four fifteen in the 1900 block of Miller Street. A 22 year old West Bend man was observed operating his vehicle erratically by an officer who was on foot patrol. The officer made contact with the driver as the vehicle stopped in a driveway. Upon questioning, the driver was found to be intoxicated. He failed the field sobriety tests and was arrested for his first Offense OWI. About an hour later, police answered a call at the Shell West station on West Washington for a gas drive off. According to the report, a 35 year old man from West Bend fueled up with sixty dollars worth of gas and drove away. Police tracked him from a license plate id. When they located him, he was arrested for fraud. Finally, early Tuesday morning, apparently a 25 year old woman from Hartford didn’t know when to stop celebrating the day’s activities. An officer observed her driving left of the center line. The officer called in the violation and again saw her drive left of the center line and off the roadway into some brush. She was transported by ambulance to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. During the investigation, the woman was found to be intoxicated, as she failed the field sobriety tests. She was arrested for her second Offense OWI.
