Pat Ninmann used the occasion of her one year anniversary as Sheriff on Saturday to announce her candidacy for the office. Ninmann was appointed Sheriff by the governor on April 5, 2013 following the early retirement of Todd Nells. She touted her successes in making the announcement, including statistics that show a five-percent increase in OWI citations issued, a 12-percent increase in speeding citations and a decrease in vehicle accidents by nearly three-percent. Ninmann also says violent crime decreased by 45-percent in the past year and the clearance rate of active cases increased by 13 percent. At the same time she says property crimes decreased by 29 percent and the clearance rate increased by ten percent. Dodge County Patrol Sergeant Dale Schmidt entered the sheriff’s race in February.
