The Washington County Sherriff’s Department has a serious criminal report today that unfortunately shows that no community big or small is free from crime. Captain Gonwa is releasing information about a home invasion that happened in Kewaskum at about 12:48am Monday morning in the 9300 block of Old Fon Du Lac Road in the Town of Kewaskum. According to the report, a home owner was awakened by the sound of breaking glass. The resident proceeded to investigate the source of the sound when he confronted a male suspect standing inside the home by a dining room table located near the front door. The suspect had apparently broken the glass on the locked front door and gained entry to the residence. The resident yelled at the suspect who then grabbed a purse off of the dining room table and fled on foot from the residence. The purse contained personal effects, credit cards and forty dollars in cash. The resident then observed that the suspect had dropped a number of crushed aluminum cans as he fled from the residence. The cans were later found to have been stolen from an outbuilding on the property. The suspect had stolen up to five bags of crushed cans from the outbuilding prior to breaking into the home. The suspect was described as a white male approximately six feet tall, medium build, wearing lighter colored pants and a dark sweatshirt or jacket. There were no weapons displayed. The suspect remains at large. If you have any information on this or any crime, you are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 262-335-4411.
