5/7 Sheriff Deputies Report Numerous Citations

Patrol deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department have been kept quite busy the last several days with a variety of calls. Lieutenant Martin Schulteis reports that Monday night at around eleven fifteen, the dispatch center received a cell phone call from a concerned citizen reporting a car driving on the wrong side of the road on highway 33 in the area of the 41 overpass. The caller followed the car behind a business in Allenton and waited for a squad to arrive. Initial contact was made with the driver, a 52 year old woman from Gwinn Michigan. She showed signs of impairment and confessed to deputies that she was drunk and should not be driving. She
stated she was en route to Portage. She was given a field sobriety test and her intox results were over twice the legal limit. She was arrested for OWI.  Lieutenant Schulteis also reports an OWI citation from Saturday at two thirty am.  A 22 year old City of West Bend man was clocked in the area of County Trunks W and S near the Town of Addison doing 100 mph after leaving a local bar. Deputies pulled him over and conducted a road side investigation.  He refused Field Sobriety testing and was arrested for a first Offense OWI.
