5/13 Child Neglect Charges Filed on West Bend Woman

Charges of child neglect have been referred to the Washington County District Attorney against a 26 year old West Bend woman. According to the report from Lieutenant Michael Hartwell of the West Bend Police Department, her four year old child was found running down the alley on the South West side of town Saturday morning at ten thirty, wearing only a diaper and without any adult supervision. Police records indicate this was the third time within a month that this has happened.  Police arrested the woman and are waiting for formal charges to be filed.  Lieutenant Hartwell is also reporting two cases of first offense OWI from over the weekend. Both cases occurred within twenty minutes early Sunday morning. A 30 year old man from Richfield was stopped for unlawful display of license plates at one thirty six am on Washington Street at US45. During the stop, the officer observed marijuana in a backpack and detected the odor of intoxicants.  The driver was cited for first Offense OWI and Possession of Marijuana. The second case took place at one fifty six. A 32 year old Jackson man was stopped in the 1100 block of West Washington Street after crossing the center line with his vehicle. Police questioned the man and he was found to be intoxicated after he failed the field sobriety tests. He was cited for his first Offense OWI.
