5/22 Missing 62 Year Old Hartford Man Found in Wauwatosa

A Hartford man, who had been reported missing Tuesday and was the subject of a search by several area law enforcement agencies, was found Wednesday afternoon. The Hartford Police Department released a report at about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday that the man, who was identified as 62-year-old Richard M. Kontny, had been safely taken into custody by the Wauwatosa Police Department. Initially at about noon Wednesday, the Hartford Police Department issued a news release asking for the public’s help in locating Kontny. Kontny, had been missing since early Tuesday and relatives were concerned about his well being after he left some cryptic notes with a waitress at a Hustisford restaurant. Police said the notes appeared to be incoherent and they contained cryptic statements regarding his belief that he was going to be the center of a series of apocalyptic religious events. The family became concerned after reading the notes. Investigators determined Kontny had stopped at the Walgreens store in Hartford on the morning of his disappearance. According to the employees there, he appeared to be disoriented and had difficulty communicating.
Investigators determined Kontny had been in several parts of Milwaukee on Tuesday, including the area near South Shore Drive near the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center. In his notes, Kontny also made reference to his intention to go to the “Holy Hill area.” The Hartford police Department is now conducting an investigation surrounding his dispppearance.
