A West Bend man died and two others were seriously injured in an early Saturday morning crash in the Town of Scott in Sheboygan County. The 22-year-old driver of the car, who died has been identified by the Sheboygan County Sheriff as Christopher J. Goneau,. According to the report from Sergeant Doug Tuttle, Goneau was driving a 2006 Pontiac Torrent on Cranberry Road near County Road D at around 1:10 a.m. Saturday when the car left the road, struck a tree and rolled over several times. The car was believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed, and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. His passengers have been identified as 21 year old Matthew C. Rooney, of Jackson and 21 year old Michael J. Manteufel, of West Bend. Goneau was trapped in the car for a time and was eventually flown by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, where he died. Rooney was also taken to Froedtert hospital for treatment. The second passenger, Michael Monteufel suffered moderate injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
