5/27 Richfield Family Escapes Fire but One Dog Dies

A village of Richfield family and three of their dogs safely escaped from a house and garage fire Sunday morning fire , however, a fourth dog died in the fire. According to a report released from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the call came in about three thirty am from the owners of the home located on Parish Drive. Apparently,  the homeowners were awakened by smoke detectors after the home was filling with smoke. Upon their arrival, a deputy helped evacuate two homeowners and three dogs after seeing  a fire in the attached garage. The Richfield Fire Department requested assistance from the Germantown, Slinger, Jackson and Lisbon fire departments.  Fire personnel were able to quickly gain control of the blaze and prevented the fire from spreading throughout the living portion of the residence. The garage which contained three vehicles sustained significant damage. The rest of the house sustained smoke damage.
The cause of fire is not known, however there were rags used for staining stored in the area of the garage where the fire originated. The estimated damage to the garage and residence is more than $100,000.
