6/6 Road Rage Thought be Cause of Two Car Crash

Yesterday we had reported some sketchy details surrounding a two car accident on Highway 45 near Paradise Drive on Wednesday night. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department has since released the incident report. A 19 year old Village of Germantown man was traveling north on Highway 45 just north from Paradise Drive at about eight forty five. At the same time, a 22 year old Town of Jackson man was traveling in the same direction behind the 19 year old.  The 19 year old reported the Jackson man was traveling closely behind his vehicle. The 19 year old told officers he realized he was speeding and slowed down when the other driver swerved his vehicle into the opposite lane and sped up. The 19 year old said the other driver was looking at him shaking his fist, and then swerved his vehicle back into the same lane.  The 19 year old told deputies he then swerved towards the ditch line to avoid a crash and was successful however the other driver lost control, entered the median and then overturned.  The other driver’s statement is a bit different. He claims, he was traveling northbound behind the other vehicle and that the truck "slammed on his brakes."   He said he swerved to avoid striking the other truck and lost control of his vehicle, causing it to overturn. He received minor, non life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and refused transportation to a hospital .Another northbound vehicle was damaged by debris from the rollover crash. The case remains under investigation.  Portions of highway 45 were closed during cleanup and the scene was cleared by about ten twenty pm..
