Officers with the West Bend Police Department were kept busy over the weekend with multiple cases of retail theft. According to Lieutenant Mike Hartwell, there were five reported arrests over between Friday afternoon and Saturday night. Four of the five arrests happened on Friday starting with back to back incidents at five pm. A 44 year old West Bend woman was at the Kohl’s department store on South Main. She was arrested for Retail Theft and placed in jail after being caught having taken $810 dollars worth of jewelry from the store without paying for it. At the same time, another theft happened at the Walmart store involving two teenagers. A 17 year old girl from Theresa, and a 15 year old boy from Neosho, were both cited for Retail Theft after they were caught taking numerous items of merchandise from the store without paying for it. Later on Friday night at seven twenty, a 26 year old man from Beaver Dam, was arrested for Retail Theft and placed in jail after taking a pair of shoes from the Shopko store on South Main without paying for them. Further investigation revealed the man has a lengthy history of criminal activity. About an hour later, also at Shopko an 18 year old Adel female, was cited for Retail Theft. The busy weekend of retail theft reports ended Saturday evening just prior to six. An 18 year old Jackson woman was cited for Retail Theft after taking some merchandise from the Kohl’s store.
