The Boys and Girls Club in West Bend has gotten the green light to move forward and break ground on a new 7500 square foot expansion. Jay Fisher, the Executive Director made the announcement at a special media event, saying they hit the one million dollar mark, towards their goal of one point two million. Fisher said the club’s last expansion came about ten years ago. He said, “At that time, we were serving about 125 children a day and now we are about double that,” He commented further and said that their membership has also dramatically increased from between 600 to700 members to nearly 1,400 now. Patrick Prescott, President for the board of directors at the Boys and Girls Club talked about the expansion project and said the expansion will allow space for an activity room dedicated to middle school students. In addition, the kitchen will be remodeled and expanded. Mayor Kraig Sadownikow, whose company American Construction Services serves as the contractor for the project, says this entire project is a true community effort. Construction on the new 7500 square foot expansion will get underway in August and should be completed by the end of the year. The facility will remain open and all the club’s programs will continue through the construction.
