The tragic deaths of two Kewaskum High School male students in a car crash Wednesday has left students, staff and most residents in the small community of Kewaskum reeling in grief and sorrow. Sixteen year old Travis Trapp of Cascade and sixteen year old Brent Schultz, of Kewaskum were killed Wednesday morning in the crash, which involved a Washington County sheriff's squad car. The teens were in a 2004 Ford Taurus that was westbound on Highway H near Oak Road at about 8:40 Wednesday morning when it crossed the center and collided with the eastbound squad car, according to a preliminary investigation from the Wisconsin State Highway Patrol. The squad car was driven by thirty five year old deputy Jesse Williams. Williams was treated for minor injuries at St. Joseph Hospital. Initial thoughts from the State Patrol are that rain and wet road conditions might have played a role in the crash. Trapp and Schultz were known to be very good friends. Trapp would have been a senior this fall; Schultz would have been a junior. Both were involved in the school's Kewaskum FFA Education in Agriculture club and trap shooting. Five counselors were available for students and community members at the Kewaskum High School cafeteria on Thursday, and they will return to the school again today.
