Just in time for the extended July fourth holiday weekend there is some good news at the gasoline pump. The price for a gallon of regular appears to have stopped its steady rise of the past few weeks. The national average price per gallon on Monday was $3.70, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration's wekly price report. However, in metro Milwaukee, where reformulated gasoline is required to meet clean air standards, the price was $3.77 on Tuesday, according to Wisconsin AAA. In West Bend, the prices on Tuesday were about a nickel higher at $3.81 at most stations including the Shell on Paradise and Parkway, Citgo on West Washington near 15th Avenue and Mobil on West Washington and University Drive. In Hartford, prices are closer to the Milwaukee market, the Kwik Trip on East Sumner reports $3.79, while the Shell station on South Main and Kossuth Street is priced at $3.77. Among metro areas in the state, AAA Wisconsin says Madison had the cheapest gas on Tuesday at $3.60 a gallon.
