The month of July and the start of an extended holiday week got off to a busy start for West Bend Police. According to Lieutenant Michael Hartwell, police responded to three notable calls Monday. At seven am Monday, a 53 year old West Bend man was stopped in the 1900 block of South Main Street after a citizen reported a possible impaired driver. The driver failed the field sobriety tests and was cited for his first Offense OWI. At four thirty, police were called to the Kohl’s store on South Main for a case of retail theft. A 19 year old West Bend man, was issued a citation for Retail Theft after leaving the business with merchandise in which he failed to pay for. The next case was of a bit more serious nature. Monday night at about seven twenty, officers on patrol found a 47 year old man unresponsive in a storage unit along Schoenhaar Drive. The man regained consciousness after being administered Narcan. The Investigation determined that the man had ingested a controlled substance. Charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia were forwarded to the Washington County District Attorney’s office and the man was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
